Espana, la vida de una Aupair

18 juli 2013 - Mondariz-Balneario, Spanje

For 4 weeks I will be an aupair in Mondariz-Balneario in Spain. This pueblo is the smallest of Spain, to get here I flew to Portugal because the village is above Portugal. I have been here one week now and I am loving it! In the weekends I can do what I want, visit another city with the train, bus or take the car. Cities nearby are Vigo, Ourense, Pontevedra and Santiago de Compostela.

Now I am the aupair of two boys, twins of eleven years old. In the last week the two girls (14 and 15) will also come, they are now in Paris, babysitting their cousins.

A typical day: I wake up between 9 and 11, if I wake up early I can swim some in the pool and do some training. From 11 till 1300 I teach the children English, both one hour separately. I have to invent a lot of exercises because I am no teacher,  but my English is fluent enough to teach them words, let them make grammar exercises in English or play small games.

After that we Always go to the shop, walking and we get a few things from the shop. Meanwhile , at home Mirjam (the help in the house) is cooking lunch for us.

SO: around 2-3 in the afternoon and 9-10 in the evening we eat warm food, TWICE A DAY!!! it's amazing

After the lunch I usually take a siësta or we play a game of (for example) monopoly.

Then from 1700 we swim in the pool or we go to the river. There is one place in the river where people made a trampoline from old tires, filled with rocks to keep it steady. I can practise flips over there and I try to go every day. It is about 45 minutes walking, 20 minutes with the bike and 5 minutes with the car. I love to drive around here because the road is really  diverse and you can drive with an open window because it's so hot.

Yesterday I went to the river with the bike, so we are in the mountains. When I say biking I mean, walking uphill and racing downhill, then when I arrived at the river I jumped in it. The river has a silver color to it, very magical.

Also, I study Spanish everyday, of course I talk Spanish everyday but I study vocabulary and grammar as well.

Next time a juicier story!
