Ourense, termal city

20 juli 2013 - Mondariz-Balneario, Spanje

Today was the first day that I went away to visit another city, I went to Ourense by car. Also, this was the first time that I was on my own, in the car, on the highway, with the tomtom, and in ESPAÑA!

But, it was not scary at all, you can drive 120 almost all the time, even the highways has a lot of bents in the road so I had to be attentive all the time.

When I was in Ourense, at 1300 in the afternoon, I parked the car and got the bike out of the car, I was going to discover Ourense by bicycle. Because of the bike I felt like a local, I tried to ask a lot of people the way so that I could practice Spanish as well. The Spanish people are very nice and they really want to help you and they like it if you try to talk Spanish with them.

Ourense is a termal city, natural hot water comes up out of the earth, baths are carved out and they even have to put cold water in it so that the water is not too hot.
I went to three places, with the bike. To cycle from one place to another you drive along the river, it is so beautiful I want to live in Spain!

The second termal bath was the nicest, it was big and the river was streaming next to it so to cool off you could jump into the river (well, climb into the river).

When the people notice that you are not Spanish, they talk to you and ask you where you're from and they like to make conversations.

After visiting the termals, I also slept some in the sun and I biked around the city of Ourense, I just walked there but I was tired from walking and cycling all day so at 8 I went back to the car, and back to Mondariz-Balneario. I had a very fun and adventurous day but I was glad to be back home, now I'm going to dive into the swimming pool to cool off!

And what was funny yesterday, we cycled to the river, the one where you can make flips from the self-made trampoline. And while I was in the water the father and the kids heard some little girls talk about me, they knew everything, that I was from the Netherlands, that I speak English, that I am 19.. It is very funny because we live in a small village.
