Last week in Mondariz and First few days of Madrid

14 augustus 2013 - Madrid, Spanje

It's been a while, since I arrived in Madrid I only did fun things so I didn't really have time to write something.

The last week in Mondariz went by too quickly. During my last full weekend I went to Illas Cies, Islands to where you can travel by boat from Vigo, they are said to have one of the nicest beaches in the world. It was very pretty, next to swimming and just lying in the sand you could also walk around in the mountains. When I almost had to leave, I went to one other beach, because it was crowded, I decided to climb on the rocks , then I discovered another beach, you could see it when you were standing on the rock. I was there all alone and it was my private beach! Then people followed me and it was not my private beach anymore -_-''

Then I went back to Vigo, with the boat, I wanted to go back to the car, but it wasn't there anymore... I walked around a bit and then I realized that I had parked the car in a place where it was prohibited to park. So I called Juan (my host father) and I had to go to the car deposits. There I had to pay 132 euro's and I was on the road again. Something I never want to experience again, lesson learned and hopefully improved my driving skills, next time I'll take a better look before parking.

The last week went by really quick, the girls came back from France and we were in the house with 7 people, then one of them went to a friend and the other girl had friends over, so my job as an aupair didn't get more complicated at all. The highlight with the boys this week was when we made waterballoons together and played a game where they had to use their learned english skills to earn water balloons and to throw them at each other.

O Marisquiño
Saturday was my last day in Vigo, but also my last free day and I was very Lucky. The night before there was a breakdance workshop by Poe One, a very well-known bboy and I learned a lot. The next morning there was a workshop in rocking by Moisex. This was all because of O Mariquiño, a festival in Vigo which takes place on the boulevard, there is graffiti, skateboarding, bmxing, motorcrossing and breakdance. I went to the battles and participated with two Spanish guys. Afterwards I had to run to the car as not to be home too late because that night I was going to catch the train to Madrid.

The train
It was not a sleeper train, just seats, you could put them forward, but if the person sitting across from you did the same, the seats would touch each other, not so comfortable thus.

Madrid
I arrived in Madrid very early, at 0800 in the morning I was in the accomodation. It is an old building, very beautiful and in the middle of the center and the neighbourhood is ALIVE! I was very Lucky, the people of the flat went to the swimming pool this day so I had something nice to do and the opportunity to meet new people immediately. When we got there a guy let us in for free, very funny we asked him where the entrance was, then we walked away and he asked us with how many are you? we were with four and he said we could pass in through the back for free. Then he said: take your shirts off, so that no-one could discover that we got in for free. In the evening we went to a nice restaurant. In Spain you have menu del días, it is perfect. For 12 euro's you get 2 plates, a drink (if you choose wine, a caraf of 2 glasses) and a dessert or coffee, and it was good!!

First day in the school
Monday was my first school day, during the week I have school every day from 1000-1300, the level of the class is good. I finished A2.1 in the Netherlands, but the level here is higher so I am again in level A2.1, but the teacher will sign my diploma so that it looks like I finished A2 and then I can continue with level B in the Netherlands. The teacher is great, you have to talk Spanish during the lesson , which works pretty well.

In the evening there was a Salsa night organised by the school. We went to a club and learned to dance Bachata, it was very nice and you had the opportunity to talk to Spanish people. When I have the opportunity I like to have conversations , to improve my Spanish and to get to know the Spanish people. It depends on the person, but usually we can understand each other. So I am very excited about getting to know new forms of talking, for example in the past, to improve my conversation skills. After the class I had lunch with some people of the school, again menu del día.

Tuesday night we (with the people of my house) went to a rooftop bar in the evening, you had to pay 3 euro's for entrance but it was very nice. Everything is just cool in Madrid, I'm doing nice things with nice people constantly, so to describe everything would be a lot.

Tomorrow is a holiday in Madrid, for some reason. So tonight there is a big party at la Latina, on the Streets. We are going here with the house.

New update soon! xx
